TRAVEL TIPS
Get insured
Subscribe to travel insurance that covers medical evacuation, hospital treatment, and injuries arising from adventure activities if you plan to participate in those. Unplanned medical fees can end up costing more than your dream holiday.
Do your homework
The best time to go jungle trekking in Peninsular Malaysia is during the dry season from March to October, when rainfall is minimal. It also pays off to do your research on peak seasons, such as school holidays, when most families travel and hotel rates skyrocket.
Keep motion sickness at bay
If you tend to suffer from motion sickness while travelling on long journeys, swallow an anti-motion sickness pill at least 30 minutes before beginning your journey. If you’re flying to your destination, check in early so you can have your pick of seats near the wings of the plane as these tend to be the least bumpy spots when turbulence strikes.
At the hotel
Make your hotel reservations at least 3 to 6 months in advance, particularly if you plan to travel during peak season. And when you do check in, ask the hotel’s reception for a card with the name and address of the hotel you are staying at just in case you lose your way while exploring.
