Note On Conservation
Belum Rainforest Resort is set to be more than just a holiday destination. Its development as an ecotourism hub is in line with our self-imposed guidelines for an ‘economically ecofriendly’ development’s best practices, the PULAU BANDING CHARTER, which brings into play very prominently the close cooperation between the Perak State Government and its various departments, the Federal Government and its related ministries, and non-governmental organisations such as WWF-Malaysia and the Malaysian Nature Society to ensure that the biodiversity of Pulau Banding, where the resort is situated, and its surroundings are fully protected, appreciated, preserved and propagated for future generations.
Conducting sustainable development practices that encompass environmental, economic and social elements mean that not only will the unique flora and fauna of Pulau Banding and the surrounding Belum-Temengor Rainforest Complex be preserved, but so will the welfare and interests of the local indigenous (orang asli) communities that live in the rainforest.
